A Purposeful Time

So much has happened in the last three months of 2020, including a death in my family, and to be honest, I wasn’t in the mood to put out a newsletter for April. However, my goal is to be consistent this year with whatever I start. As I sat to prepare this month’s newsletter, purposeful time and enriched relationships came to mind. As I observe boredom kicking in via social media posts, I don’t see this as being “stuck” at home. I am so grateful to be able to work from home, homeschool, have essentials, food, and be with my family every day. Although we can’t do much of anything outside right now, now is the time to be present and make your relationships stronger. The months haven’t been the best, but we are still here making it through each day the best we can. It is such a waste of energy to be worried, mean-spirited, and selfish at a time of sorrow. Be the reason that someone's day felt better than yesterday. Be the reason that you made your mother smile. Be the reason that your child feels loved. We do not have time to add more chaos to each other's life.
Since travel has been restricted and not recommended at this time, here are some wellness tips to have a purposefully enriched time at home:
Turn off the news and social media
Play board games
Have "recess" time without electronics (building blocks, legos, puzzles, superhero/villain battles, dress up dolls, hide and seek, etc.)
Make a music mix and have a mini dance party
Clean the house
Make breakfast, lunch, and dinner and sit at the table as a family
Bake some desserts
Do laundry (even if it’s just underwear and pajamas right now lol)
Read a book/magazine
Movie night with the family
Burn some scented candles and soak in a bubble bath
Give yourself a Mani/Pedi
Video chat with your friends and family
Seek therapy, even if it's virtual for now
When working from home, make sure that when work ends, it ends. BE PRESENT AT HOME to make time for these things. Before you know it, we will be back to normal, or close to it, and the time you wished you had with your loved ones will pass you by. Don’t let your time be unfulfilled. Essential workers, you are appreciated!
